The translucent, photovoltaic LUMO greenhouse panels from Soliculture will facilitate plant growth while also harvesting solar energy.
The LUMO panels, which have already undergone three years of trials, were developed by Soliculture in partnership with Solaria Inc. in order to harvest solar energy while removing a minimum amount of light from the crops. Photovoltaic cells embedded in the panels are arranged in a patented array created by Solaria, with a dye concentration that offsets light captured by the panels by increasing the efficiency of the light that reaches the plants. That offset is achieved by the use of a luminescent dye that converts green light into red light, which optimizes photosynthesis.
