Magnetically Driven Enzymes Fight Tumors

Magnetically Driven Enzymes Fight Tumors
Apr-09-16
Researchers are developing a process that could allow enzymes to be dragged to a specific location with a magnet, where they could then attack a tumor or blood clot.

The process, created by a team of international universities, sees the enzymes trapped within the magnetite particles, which are then combined with water to allow for safe injection. The enzymes can then be directed to a precise location, such as a blood clot or tumor, for treatment.

The new process improves on previous attempts in that no additional materials were used to connect the enzymes to the particles—which resulted in dilution and reduced magnetic response.
