Moving objects with mind-control can be tiring, but a new intelligent interface able to operate with some autonomy could change that.
The system, part of the "Automating a brain-machine interface system" project, is the first to address the issue of mental fatigue, which is common with conventional brain-interface systems. It works in tandem with wireless sensors that relay environmental information such as temperature and lighting; mobile actuators that turn devices off and on; and an artificial intelligence algorithm. This allows the system to learn user preferences and predict the user's actions in different situations, and then take independent control of devices without the person needing to concentrate for extended periods of time.
