Micro Wind Turbine Takes the Turbine Off Road

Micro Wind Turbine Takes the Turbine Off Road
Aug-14-16
The foldable, portable Micro Wind Turbine by Nils Ferber is both lightweight and powerful, offering an off-the-grid way to charge devices by day and night.

Still in the prototype phase, the Micro Wind Turbine weighs just over two pounds, and folds down to about the size of a hiking pole. Its long, fabric sails allow it to capture the wind from all directions, and it can also be fitted with a larger rotor that will optimize power harvest in low wind. According to the team, a consistent wind speed of 11 mph is enough to keep the battery topped while also charging a USB device.
