MicrobeScope Turns iPhones into Microscopes

Already surpassing its funding on Kickstarter, the MicrobeScope was designed to be simple to use, eschewing glass slides in favor of its LED-lit illuminated stage. The device is set at a fixed focus of 800x magnification, so adjustment is not required.

The MicrobeScope can capture both images and videos of the sample, and was developed with the later versions of the iPhone in mind. On later iPhones, these videos can be viewed in slow motion, which the developers consider a significant advantage due to the fast-moving nature of many microbes.
