Mitticool Refrigerator Cools Food through Evaporation

Mitticool Refrigerator Cools Food through Evaporation
Sep-05-14
The clay-based Mitticool refrigerator keeps foods cool without electricity, relying instead on the natural cooling of water evaporation.

The Mitticool is made from a specific mix of four different types of clay—which optimize its evaporative-cooling capabilities—and is designed for people who live in very dry climates. The unit is equipped with a chamber at the top for holding water that slowly drips down the sides, cooling the interior as it evaporates. The cooling water can also be tapped for drinking, and the designer claims that the MItticool will enhance the flavors of produce while also keeping them naturally fresh for days.
