Mobile Robot EV Charging Station

Mar-13-20 Ever been frustrated by not being able to find a vacant charging station for your electric vehicle? This concept from Volkswagen turns every parking space into a charging point.

When you need a charge just open an app and call one of these mobile charging robots to your location. The entire operation would be autonomous and need no human interaction, from opening the charging flap to connecting the plug and decoupling when done.

Parking facilities would no longer need to build complicated charging infrastructures. The robot would move an energy storage device to your vehicle to charge it and then move on to deliver a device to the next vehicle that needs charging, retrieving the devices when the charging is completed.
