Monitoring Blood Sugar with Microwaves

Monitoring Blood Sugar with Microwaves
May-07-16
An innovative device able to monitor blood glucose levels without blood samples could be a game changer for millions of people suffering from diabetes.

The sensor, developed by a team from Cardiff University, attaches to the skin with adhesives, where it uses microwaves to measure glucose levels in the blood. The data is then sent to a paired device for review. According to the team, the microwaves are quite safe, at about 1000 times less than the levels produced by a smartphone.
