MyDx Tests for Cannabis Quality

MyDx Tests for Cannabis Quality
Apr-01-14
The MyDx cannabis quality testing kit works with a smartphone to immediately identify cannabinoids, aroma compounds and any harmful chemicals in the cannabis sample.

As cannabis becomes more accepted for both medical and recreational use, the need to ensure its quality is become more apparent. Many strains can be contaminated with mold or E.coli, and currently the burden of quality control falls on the private citizen. To address this issue, Daniel Yazbeck developed the MyDx, which is equipped with sensors able to identify particular marker molecules in vapor form. After the device has been synced with a smartphone (either Android or iOS), the user places a small bit of the cannabis on the unit's sliding tray. The strain's content information is then sent to the smartphone, as well as what sort of effect the user can expect from the drug.

MyDx has already exceeded its funding goal on Indiegogo, and the developer also plans to create other sensor units for the same platform: Organa to test for pesticides, Aqua to test water samples and Aero to check for air quality.
