The Occoris inhaler ensures that patients receive the proper dose of medication, regardless of their lung strength.
Still in the early development stages, the Occoris was designed to take advantage of the growth of the pulmonary drug delivery market and the rise in asthma and COPD. The device, a “high-performance dry powder aerosolisation engine,” could allow for the pulmonary delivery of different kinds of drugs, such as inhaled antibiotics or other therapies that require larger doses of medications.
According to the developers, the system could be used to create a single-use inhaler costing less than 20 cents to manufacture.
