Oil Vacuum Cleaner

Oil Vacuum Cleaner
Nov-12-10
Norwegian students have come up with a solution to cleaning up spilled oil once it has reached land - an oil vacuum cleaner.

The MOSE (Mechanical Oil Spill sanitation Equipment) blows absorbent materials onto the oil, then sucks the material up again - a process that inventors claim is four times as efficient as manual cleaning.

Rotating brushes mix the oil and the absorbent materials together. It is then sucked up at the same time the landscape is scrubbed.

The oil, water and beach material is then extracted for disposal.
