OLO Smartphone 3D Printer

OLO Smartphone 3D Printer
Mar-27-16
The OLO Smartphone 3D Printer lets users print objects that are hardened by the glow of the phone.

The OLO weighs only 1.7 pounds, and is small enough to fit in a backpack. The key to the device lies in the special resin the company calls “daylight resin,” which will cure and harden when exposed to the while light from a smartphone screen. Users can pick a design from the OLO app library, upload their own, or choose one from the web. The phone is then placed in the OLO device, where the app will trigger specific pixels on the phone’s screen to illuminate, hardening the liquid resin layer by layer.
