Paper 3D Printing from Staples

Paper 3D Printing from Staples
Dec-05-12
Consumers will soon be able to have 3D prints made at Staples stores as easily as sending an image to a photo lab for printing—as long as you don’t mind that the finished product is made of paper.

The service, called Staples Easy 3D, is offered through a partnership between Staples office supply stores and Mcor Technologies Ltd. Users will be able submit a file online, which will be uploaded to a Mcor IRIS 3D paper printer at their local Staples. The IRIS printer uses 0.1 mm-thick layers of ordinary paper along with colored ink to create a full-color, 3D model of the requested object, which can be picked up at the store or mailed to the customer.

The service will debut next year in the Netherlands and Belgium.
