The Pelebox smart locker system lets patients collect their medications independently and skip the wait at the clinic.
The Pelebox was created by Neo Hutiri as a way to ease the burden on clinicians and grant patients easier access to their medications—down from an average wait time of 3.6 hours to 36 seconds. The lockers can set with a single-use PIN, offering a secure yet independent way for patients to collect their medications.
Hutiri also recently won the Royal Academy of Engineering’s 2019 Africa Prize. According to Africa Prize judge, John Lazar, “Hutiri is a deserving winner. Pelebox will improve healthcare for everyone using and working in a severely strained public healthcare system.”
