Place Lamp Lets Co-Workers Know Where You Are

Place Lamp Lets Co-Workers Know Where You Are
Jun-01-14
Created with office life in mind, the Place Lamp communicates with your smartphone to keep track of your position and let co-workers know how far you are from your desk at the moment.

The Place Lamp prototype communicates with the office Wi-Fi and your smartphone to determine how far away you are from your desk at any time. As it tracks your general distance using GPS and cell tower triangulation, the lamp will alter its glow depending upon how far you are from it, from a subtle glow when you are in the neighborhood to a brighter, white-light tasking glow when you are within a few feet of your desk.

The lamp is also open-source, and so can be programmed for certain tasks, such as blinking when a text message is received or changing to red to signify an important email.
