PonoMusic Redefines the Music Experience

Mar-13-14 Musician Neil Young has taken the task of improving the sound quality of music into his own hands with the PonoMusic, which was developed to allow listeners to enjoy music the way the artist intended.

PonoMusic, which has the support of a number of successful recording artists, was designed to allow the listener to hear the music “as close to the original recorded resolution as possible.” The device works in conjunction with the online PogoMusic store, which will offer FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) as its standard audio format. Compared to MP3 files, which are compressed to bit rate of 256 kbps or less, the FLAC files feature recordings from 1411 kbps to as high as 9216 kbps, which the company states is the equivalent to between 6 and 30 times more information per song.

PonoMusic has already vastly surpassed its funding goal of Kickstarter.
