Printable Solar Cells
Feb-25-09
A new kind of solar cell is on its way. Sheets of the new cells can be printed like money and are coming off the press of a banknote printing company.

The new, cost-effective, mass-production process rolls out flexible, large-sheet, reel-to-reel printable plastic solar cells. The polymer printing technology is used already by banknote printers in 20 countries. If the solar-cell printing tests are successful, the cost of solar cells could plummet. Involved in the development are chemists, physicists, and materials scientists, along with the cutting-edge printer.
