Printed Sensor Monitors Tread Depth

Printed Sensor Monitors Tread Depth
Mar-01-18
A printed sensor able to monitor tire tread in real time could help prevent unexpected blowouts.

Being developed by the Duke University team’s spinoff Tyrata, Inc, the flexible, printable sensors cost only a few cents, and are meant to be placed in an array on the inside of the tire. Once in place, the sensors monitor and map the tread depth of the entire tire, transmitting the data to a paired device via Bluetooth.
