RE Camera Wants You to Put Down the Phone

RE Camera Wants You to Put Down the Phone

The unusual RE camera was designed to replace the smartphone and make taking photos a more seamless experience.

Developed by HTC, the RE is designed for one-handed operation. With only two buttons and no viewfinder, it is small enough to be carried in a purse or pocket, yet the camera can capture 16MP images as well as standard, slow-motion and time-lapse video. Although the lack of a viewfinder may be disconcerting to some, the ultra-wide, 146-degree wide-angle lens helps ensure the image is captured. Images and video are automatically uploaded to the paired smartphone for storage, editing and viewing.

The RE will also be equipped with live broadcasting, which will be available soon after launch. This feature will allow users to record and upload events in real time, as they happen.
