Rearview Mirror Replaces Reflections with Live Video

Rearview Mirror Replaces Reflections with Live Video
Dec-21-14
Cadillac will soon be letting drivers take a wider view of the road behind them by replacing the conventional rearview mirror with a live video feed display.

Compared by the company to "driving a convertible with the top down," the streaming video mirror will provide a field of view about four times greater than that of a standard rearview mirror. The unit features a 1280 x 240 pixel LCD display fed by an HD rear-facing camera specifically designed to enhance the rear view of the lane while also maximizing low-light situations. The mirror's streaming function can also be disabled, allowing the unit to act as standard electrochromatic mirror.
