Revolight Bike Light System Puts the Lights on the Wheels

Revolight Bike Light System Puts the Lights on the Wheels
Nov-12-12
The Revolight system for bikes places the lights on the wheels, where they turn off and on as needed to illuminate the front and shine a warning light behind.

The system was designed to shine light on the road ahead while also illuminating the bike itself, making it more visible to traffic. Made up of two rings each with an array of twelve integrated LEDs, the Revolight system clips to each wheel, creating a set of 24 LEDs. A combination magnet and accelerometer track the movement of the wheels, causing the lights to come on only at the appropriate times; the lights front wheel will direct a bright light ahead, while the rear wheel lights shine a red taillight effect. The lights are mounted to the sides of the wheels, increasing overall visibility.

I think this has potential to be really great, however wouldn't it be better for the light timers to adjust adjust to the speed that the bike is travelling? This could be achieved by summarising the rpm of the rear tyre then translating it into a lighting sequence. I love the functionality of it, and it's going to sound childish, but the effect looks really badass too! Good luck to this product
