Created to help locate lost hikers, the Sentry drone is equipped with a thermal camera and can be unpacked and launched in just ten seconds.
The Sentry drone was developed by Riderless Technologies, a Canadian startup with the goal of making it easier to find lost hikers in remote wilderness areas. The Sentry’s patent-pending folding rotors and protective, waterproof casing eliminate the for bulky transport containers, and its infrared camera can stream real-time video for the fifteen minutes the drone is able to stay aloft. Although the Sentry cannot navigate on its own, it can be quickly launched to search gullies, ravines and thick brush without the need for helicopter.
