Smart Thermostat Turns Down the Heat to Save Money

Smart Thermostat Turns Down the Heat to Save Money
Feb-08-16
A new smart thermostat lets users control their thermostat setting based on the amount of money they would like to pay, rather than by temperature.

Developed by a team from the University of Southampton, the prototype smart thermostat was developed based on a study that demonstrated that people tended to adjust their thermostat temperatures in order to save money. For example, most people tolerated a 4 degree Celsius reduction in temperature during high price levels. The team also learned that most people would prefer a thermostat that can automatically adjust to their daily routines and activities.
