The solar heated clothes dryer by Miele is the first of its kind, using solar heated water to heat and dry the clothes.
To create the heat, roof top solar-thermal collectors gather the solar energy and transfer the heat to water in a stratified storage tank. Four pipes lead from the tank to the dryer, which move the hot water to a tumbler, which heats it, and move the cooled water back out. A cold internal surface causes condensation and extracts the moisture from the clothes.
The system is reported to be almost completely loss free.
