Solar Sunglasses Harness Solar Power

Aug-03-17 The Solar Glasses hide a pair of transparent solar panels in their lenses that can power a mobile device, a hearing aid or a step counter.

Developed by the team at KIT, the Solar Glasses explore the possibilities of flexible, lightweight and transparent organic solar cells. The solar cell lenses were manufactured to fit in a pair of standard sunglass frames, where they generate about 200 milliwatts of power each—enough to power the glasses’ embedded microprocessor and displays.
