SolarSkiff Electric Boat Leaves the Trailer Behind

SolarSkiff Electric Boat Leaves the Trailer Behind
Apr-01-16
The SolarSkiff from BettaBoats can be carried on the roof of a car, eliminating the need for separate trailer.

The SolarSkiff features a patent-pending hull construction using blocks of shaped styrene foam covered in a plastic skin—which makes the boat light enough to ride in a pickup bed or atop a car—and an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery. The battery can be charged via a 120-volt outlet or 50W solar charger that can be mounted on the deck.

The SolarSkiff prototype made its debut at the Miami International Boat Show, and the BettaBoats company will offer customizing options, such as camo wraps and fishing set-ups.
