Spector Device Identifies Font on the Fly

Spector Device Identifies Font on the Fly
Jul-10-16
The handheld Spector device from Fiona O’Leary can identify different typefaces and fonts from the real world and transfer them to Adobe InDesign.

O’Leary created the Spector, which she calls a sort of “digital eyedropper,” to help her in her job as a designer. Still in the prototype phase, the Spector consists of a camera in a housing that is placed over the image to capture the sample. An algorithm translates the color and shape data into information that can be shared with Adobe InDesign immediately or stored in the device for transfer later.
