Spring-Loaded Bike Pedals Reduce Injury Risk

Spring-Loaded Bike Pedals Reduce Injury Risk
Dec-11-13
The spring-mounted BIUS1 bicycle pedals move in and out and twist, easing stress on the leg joints to provide a more comfortable ride.

Developed by BioConform of Germany, the surfaces of the pedals are spotted with aluminum studs, providing the grip for the foot. The spring-loaded design allows the pedal to move about its axle, which in turn lets the rider change their leg motion without hampering pedaling. The pedals’ flexibility also exercises a larger number of leg muscles than conventional pedals, providing a better workout and possibly more power behind the pedaling.
