Stitching Wounds with Human-Grown Yarn

Stitching Wounds with Human-Grown Yarn
Feb-05-20
Researchers have been able to grown "yarn" from human skin cells that could be used to close wounds without triggering an immune response.

Sheets of human skin cells were cut into long strips and then woven into a yarn-like material that can be knit into a variety of shapes – pouches, tubes, and valves, for example.

Dubbed "human textile" by its inventors, the yarn can be used to form knitted, braided, woven or even crocheted shapes.
