Stretchable Antenna for Wearable Electronics

Stretchable Antenna for Wearable Electronics
Mar-23-14
A new stretchable antenna able to be incorporated in to wearable monitoring devices could make it easier for those devices to transmit the data from their sensors.

While flexible electronics are coming closer to allowing continuous health monitoring, a way to transmit the information gathered by these devices has been lacking. To fill the gap, a team from North Carolina State University created a flexible, stretchable antenna by pouring a liquid polymer over a pattern of nanowires. The material can bent without disrupting the conductivity of the wires, allowing the antenna to be integrated with the stick-on medical sensors.
