Sunglacier Project Makes Ice from Desert Air

Sunglacier Project Makes Ice from Desert Air
Nov-03-13
Created to inspire others to strive for innovative solutions to tackle climate change, the Sunglacier artificial leaf project uses condensation to make ice in the desert.

Designed by artist Ap Verheggen in cooperation with Cofely Refrigeration, the underside of the leaf-shaped structure holds photovoltaic cells, which power cooling condensers. The condensers convert the humidity from the desert air into ice, which in turn forms puddles of melt water.

The Sunglacier has not yet been tested in the desert, but has proven successful when tested under simulated desert conditions in a large shipping container.

As always the talks are excellent. The big problem is for people with hearing problems, the Music is far too loud and abusive.
