Scientists claim they have figured out how to store 10 times more energy than previous supercapacitors, opening the path to creating fast-charging electric vehicles.
Using graphene laminate films, researchers have radically boosted energy density by tailoring the size of pores in the membranes to exactly match the size of electrolyte ions.
If brought to market, it would mean EVs wouldn't need to offer 430-mile range figures as the cars could quickly be repowered every 100 miles or so.
A hindrance could be that no one is producing the graphene needed to make this technology available on a mass scale.
