Surfaceskin Keeps Doors Germ-Free

Surfaceskin Keeps Doors Germ-Free
Oct-06-17
The Surfaceskin door pads kill germs on contact, stopping the spread of infections at the door.

The Surfaceskin textiles were developed by a spinoff company from the University of Leeds to address the spread of germs via hospital doors. Seven years in the making, the self-disinfecting material is equipped with tiny valves that will dispense an anti-bacterial gel on contact, killing up to 90 percent of germs. The Surfaceskins are meant to replace the standard push plates on doors, where they can be easily replaced after seven days, or 1000 pushes.
