Switch One-Handed Suturing Device

Switch One-Handed Suturing Device
Sep-30-16
The innovative Switch device from Mellon lets surgeons suture with just one hand, speeding the process and saving time in the operating rooms.

The Switch features a pair of tweezer-like arms able to pass a needle and suture from one arm to the other with just a squeeze. This one-handed operation eliminates the need to take the suture in hand after each pass through the tissue. The Switch can be used on both layered tissue, such as skin, and tubular structures like blood vessels, and the reduced motion-friction helps to reduce the chances of vessel wall tear.
