Created by RF Surgical Systems, the system stands out in that it is the first sponge-detection system to include sponge scanning coverage that includes application-specific surgery (such as orthopedics), and not just general surgery.

The Assure Detection System X includes a ConformPlus II antenna array for detecting sponges in the torso, a handheld bi-nodal scanner used to detect sponges in areas outside the torso but still in the body (such as in the spine or extremities), and the new ArQ•Sphere, which uses 3D scan fields to detect sponges used during specialty procedures. The system also includes the Blair-Port Wand X to find sponges that are outside the body and in the OR room. To encourage improved compliance, the system includes an interface that provides real-time guidance to help staff follow the correct sponge-management protocol.
