The iSkin Patches Turn the Body into a Touchscreen

The iSkin Patches Turn the Body into a Touchscreen
Mar-07-15
The iSkin patches turn the skin itself into a touch sensitive surface, letting users control their mobile devices while still leaving their phones in their pockets.

Developed by a team from the U.S. and Germany, the iSkin patches are made of silicon embedded with touch-sensitive capacitive and resistive sensors, and could be used to control music, send messages or make and receive phone calls. The patches can be custom designed in a a wide range of shapes and sizes, and can be removed from the skin and rolled up for storage when not being used.

The prototypes of the sensors are still wired to a computer, but the team hopes to add chips that could enable wireless communication.
