The one-armed, all-purpose UBR1 robot from Unbounded Robotics can be programmed to carry out a wide range of tasks.
Deliberately designed to be non-specific, the UBR1 robot is equipped with a pincer-tipped harm, an extendable torso, camera-enabled vision and USB ports. Its capabilities must be programmed by the user, although the company is currently working on modular software packages that users can download to enable the robot to carry out “practical activities.” The USB expansion ports also allow users to attach sensors and devices as needed to carry out the programmed applications.
According to CEO and co-founder Melonee Wise, “We’re in the business of getting robots out of the lab and making them a platform for businesses to use. This is the Model T of robots.”
