Tiny Injectable Transmits Tumor Pressure

Tiny Injectable Transmits Tumor Pressure
Jun-18-16
Michigan University researchers have created a battery operated computer that can be injected into the body and transmit data to an external device.

The system's antenna, an evolution of previous versions, relies on magnetism rather than electromagnetic radiation, which allows for stronger transmission. It can be injected directly into the tumor with a syringe, where it will monitor the pressure inside the cancerous tissue and transmit the data to an external device up to 12 inches away.

The system could also be used to monitor a person’s temperature, eye pressure, or the glucose level of a person with diabetes.
