Tiny ZINK Prints with Heat, Not Ink

Tiny ZINK Prints with Heat, Not Ink
Mar-10-14
The tiny, 'zero ink' Zink printer prints photos directly from a smartphone, creating full-color images with no ink required.

As much as digital sharing has taken off, some of us still prefer the tangible feel of a photograph. The ZINK palm-sized wireless printer will appeal to on-the-go nostalgic types with its ability to print a 2 inch by 3 inch photograph in less than one minute. The printer accesses the smartphone via Bluetooth, and the included app allows the photographer to crop, adjust and add a caption to the image before printing.

The ZINK technology stands out in its lack of need for ink, ribbons or toner to create the prints. Instead, the device relies upon heat to activate the color-forming molecules already embedded in the ZINK paper itself.
