Transparent Display Helps Windows Lure Shoppers

Transparent Display Helps Windows Lure Shoppers
Oct-12-13
Pioneer has developed a see-through projection system that could be used as a new kind of digital sign, combining video projection with storefront window displays.

The system projects an image from behind onto a unique screen that makes the black areas of a projected image transparent. Any object behind a black area in the projection can be seen, so products in the window display could be combined with the projected image of a logo, video or other image. According to the developers, the light transmittance of the transparent display is more than 80 percent, much higher than previous examples, and the brightness levels are higher as well.

The team believes that, in the future, the technology could also be applied to vehicles.

I developed a product better than this years ago. However their product is almost useless in the daylight. Cost of burnt out lamps is very very problematic. Viewing angle is no doubt terrible. Has direct light hot spots. Additional issues with format configuration. On more big issue... line of sight projection problems. That adds two more very costly issues. Loss of floor space. Additional cost per square foot marketing space which again reduce income as much as what may have been gained according to the math. Better to get the "Monumental" solution coming from Canada in 2014
