The Triton Fluid Management System is the first blood-loss assessment system able to estimate the volume of blood-loss in real time simply by 'looking' at the surgical sponges.
Estimating blood-loss during surgeries can be difficult, but is key to preparing the proper transfusion. Typically, the medical staff has relied on methods such as weighing the blood-soaked surgical sponges in order to determine how much blood the patient has lost.
In contrast, the Triton Fluid Management System allows staff to estimate the amount of blood-loss simply by taking a photo of the sponges with an iPad. The app sends the photo to the cloud server, where a proprietary algorithm estimates how much blood is in the sponge and then sends the results back to the OR in real time.
