Tsunami Floating Shelter Protects People in its Pod
Apr-28-14
The Tsunami Floating Shelter SAFE+ was designed to provide a protection shelter in the event of a tsunami.

Developed by Tajima Motor Corporation, the pod-shaped shelters will float on the water, and have a full 180 degree self-righting ability. They come in two sizes, accommodating either 20 or 10 people, and each passenger seat is equipped with a four-point seat belts and protective seating. The larger pod can also secure a wheelchair and its occupant. The pods have been designed to be compact, which makes them easily transportable, and can be accessed either through a roof-mounted hatch or a main door positioned above the waterline.
