The ASW eschews the traditional inflated tube in favor of a set of pneumatic air cylinders that replace the hub and wheel. The wheel’s treads are mounted onto the outer rim, with an array of options available, and the air shocks can be set to different deflections, lateral flex, and torque flex.

While the ASW tires have obvious applications in heavy-duty trucks, such as mining equipment, they could also find their way onto wheelchairs—offering better traction and a more comfortable ride.
