Underwater Glider

Dec-07-09 The first unmanned underwater glider dubbed Scarlet Knight, has crossed the Atlantic in 221 days at a pace of about 4 centimeters per second.

The glider was built with custom upgrades that allowed it to dive deeper, track battery life and minimize fouling of instruments due to marine growth.
