Wareable Triggers the Brain with Electric Shocks

Wareable Triggers the Brain with Electric Shocks
Aug-26-17
A headworn wearable from the HUMM research group triggers brain activity via electric shocks.

Developed with eSports gamers in mind, the prototype device is equipped with four electrodes able to measure brain waves and detect when the wearer is losing focus, delivering a small electric shock to ‘jumpstart’ the brain back into activity. In tests, the device has been shown to increase short-term memory while also cutting the time it takes to learn new tasks.

According to HUMM neuroscientist Tim Fiori, "It's as if you've got more RAM in your computer, for free."
