The water-trapping beads from Rhino Research could help reduce the amount of food crops that are lost to moisture and fungus.
The beads are made from zeolite that has been engineered to trap water molecules, preventing damage caused by excess moisture. They are designed to be held in a mesh or screened container and then placed alongside the harvested crop, where they will absorb water from the air. Besides helping to prevent water damage, the zeolite beads can also speed the drying process, saving energy by eliminating the need for powered drying towers.
