World's First Solar Sidewalk

World's First Solar Sidewalk
Oct-11-13
Solar panels are coming down to earth a bit with the development of a solar-walkway able to stand up to foot traffic while still harvesting solar energy.

The 100 square-foot walkway was created using solar panels built by Onyx Solar and specifically designed to be walked on, with each panel sporting an anti-slip surface and able to support up to 882 pounds. The twenty-seven panels have a combined average of 400 Wp, which is enough to power the 450 LED pathway lights.

The walkway was created by a team from George Washington University as part of the sustainable Solar Walk project.
