Xeltis Bio-Friendly Heart Valve

Xeltis Bio-Friendly Heart Valve
Oct-09-16
Xeltis has released a bioabsorbable pulmonary heart valve that will slowly dissolve as the body’s own cells take over.

The valve is currently undergoing trials in three pediatric patients, and works much like conventional prosthetic heart valves. However, the Xeltis valve takes advantage of the company’s Endogenous Tissue Restoration (ETR) technology to encourage the body’s cells to take over the implant as it slowly degrades. The result is a naturally reconstructed heart grown by the body itself.
