Engineers in Norway are planning to ease traffic woes with a series of floating underwater tunnels.
Norway is marked by more than 1000 fjords, which means motorists may travel over an array of bridges and on ferries to reach their destination. To help ease the commute, Norwegian engineers are designing a series of massive tunnels that would be attached to pontoons floating on the water. The tunnels would be submerged about 100 feet beneath the water, where they would be protected from Norway’s famously rough weather while also leaving the surface of the water clear for commercial ships.
