Decorative Solar Panels Could Influence Interior Design

Jan-26-15 The decorative organic solar panels from VTT add a new element of design that could help the technology find its way into interior design.

The panels are created using a mass production, roll-to-roll technique that results in up to 100 meters per minute. The designs are printed on the panel using the company's gravure and screen printing technologies, resulting in entire panels only 0.2 mm thick—including the electrodes and light-collecting polymer layer. Besides being attractive enough to be used as part of an interior display, the panels can also harvest indoor light.
